I'm trying to recall the ritual that sometime occurs prior to a bullfight when men form a line and try to land between the horns of a young bull. Is ther a name for the event and/or participants? Are they from the audience? I recall seeing this at a Mexican bullfight several years ago. I would really appreciate an answer form any bullfight afficionados.

Hi,

I suppose you can define a bullfight in whatever way you like. Most English-speakers think that it is supposed to be a sport. However, talk to aficionados (which I most definitely am not) and they will most likely be offended if you describe it as sport. They will probably tell you that is an art.

Anyway,it's a nice description, Iain. I also failed to see the Alhambra and the Alcázar, in fact I couldn't even find ANY accommodation on a busy holiday weekend so I would advise anyone going to Granada to try and make bookings in advance.

Thought that you had got lost or decided that the sunny shores of SA are a better place to be.I have watched a bullfight previosly (only once and never again) and your article descibed this, so called "sport", down to a tee. Keep on writing.
Cheers Shadow

A harrowing but vivid account Iain. For me, as you will understand, it brings back more pleasant memories of a roof terrace far from Spain.

A very good description of a barbaric "sport" which should be outlawed in this day and age! Have never seen one and don't intend to. Nice writing Iain.
