I loved reading your blog. Thank you for sharing it with us. Like you, I have always wanted to teach English in Spain - after visiting Portugal, I had had a change of heart. One day we may teach together in Spain. Good luck to you :)

I love your descriptions of your time with Mr. and Mrs. M. I have met them on a few occasions and found them to be just as adorable as you portray them to be.

I remember well the "stinging" incident in Yzerfontein of which you speak. It was one of those apparently miraculous days in Yzerfontein when the normally freezing water was warm. The downside is always the hordes of nasty tropical creatures that make their way around Cape Point in such conditions. You were, I think, (rather topically!)in fact stung by a giant Portuguese Man O' War (Physalia physalis), commonly known as a bluebottle.

Give me the oversized swimming pool, with maximum potential damage the toe on one foot, every time. This place is becoming scary.

I love the way you have mixed facts with some warm, human commentary. Both you and Claire do that so well.
